McKoy Skate Park

McKoy Skate Park

Originally built in December 2003 in partnership with Home Depot, KABOOM, and the City of Decatur using Woodward equipment, McKoy Skate Park has been a vibrant part of the Decatur community. However, with Woodward out of business, obtaining replacement equipment and parts became a challenge.

The Decatur High School Skate Club took charge, advocating tirelessly for a complete park overhaul. The Decatur City Commission voted in 2022 to renovate the McKoy Skate Park with a majority of the funding coming via a $200,000 donation from an anonymous donor, the park's transformation kicked into high gear.

Collaborating with American Ramp Company, the redesigned park will offer a sleek, durable, and inclusive space. Concrete structures will replace prefabricated ones, catering to both beginners and advanced skaters. The club's input was invaluable in shaping this exciting new design.

As we move forward, the Decatur High School Skate Club's dedication remains at the heart of this project. The revamped McKoy Skate Park stands as a testament to their passion, the community's support, and a shared love for skateboarding. Get ready to experience a transformed park that's sure to thrill skaters for years to come!
