Safe Routes To School

Safe Routes to School (SRTS) is a national program that empowers communities to make walking and bicycling to school a safe and routine activity. Program goals are to have more students and adults be active to help improve fitness levels, reduce congestion, and to improve air quality around schools. Safe Routes to School Committee - meets at 9 a.m. the 1st Friday of the month at Legacy Park during the school year.

Beacon Hill Middle School
We have created a "Drop & Walk" location for students less than three blocks from campus (a six-minute walk), with a dedicated crossing guard at S. McDonough and E. Dougherty. Parents can drop their students at the Agnes Scott tennis court parking lot at this corner to avoid traffic congestion around campus. Students can walk with friends the rest of the way to school. There are multiple entrances to the lot, one on E. Dougherty and another on S. McDonough. Please do not drop students along the roadway.

Decatur High School
DHS parents can use the Drop & Walk location at the Agnes Scott tennis courts at the corner of S. McDonough and E. Dougherty. Students can take a short walk up S. McDonough and across the tracks, with dedicated crossing guards along the way. Please do not drop students along the roadway.
