Contra Dancing
In this high-energy dance, you’ll experience playful connections and the joy of dancing to live music, every Friday evening. A 30-minute introduction/refresher at 7:30 p.m. gives you all the skills you need to get started, then dancing continues from 8-10:40 p.m. No partner is necessary, just drop-in! Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Please visit contradance.org for more information. Fridays from 7:30-10:40 p.m. Pay at the door: $15 ($7 student and $20 supporter offered)
Deep Stretch/Yin Yoga
Balance and relax your body and mind with yoga poses that are held for longer periods of time with support to release tension in connective tissue, muscles and joints. Suitable for all levels. Bring a mat and a yoga blanket or large towel. Thursdays at 10 a.m.
Table Tennis
Participate in a sport you can play for a lifetime at the Decatur Recreation Center. All ages and skill levels are welcome. Open gym held on Thursdays, 6:45-9:30 p.m. and Sundays, 9:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m.
Tai Chi/Qigong: Beginners
These 60-minute beginners classes use Qigong/Tai Chi to help with balance and relaxation while building strength and flexibility. The focus is on using breath techniques with gentle meditative movement to enhance health. These classes are beneficial to all fitness levels. Wednesdays and Fridays at 11 a.m.
Volleyball
Join our recreational volleyball league, founded by three passionate ringleaders who know the net inside out. Drop in, play, and learn from the best! Sundays from 6-9 p.m.
Wheelchair Basketball & Boccia
Decatur Parks & Recreation, in partnership with the Atlanta VA Medical Center’s Recreational Therapy Program, is offering wheelchair basketball and boccia for individuals with physical disabilities. Open to anyone 18+, this program provides an opportunity to play, learn, and compete in an inclusive and supportive environment. All skill levels are welcome, and veteran status is not required. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12-2 p.m. Drop in!
