Cemetery Operations
The Decatur Cemetery is accessible to the public seven days a week until dark. City staff maintain the expansive 58-acre cemetery greenspace. As an active cemetery, staff open and close graves, set up tents, and maintain the grounds. The entire cemetery is included in the National Register of Historic Places and listed as a local historic district.
The Decatur Cemetery is a peaceful and beautiful place to walk. Many people enjoy walking their dogs through the cemetery. We ask all visitors to keep their dogs on leashes. As an added convenience, bags for disposal of pet waste are available in the cemetery. Thank you for helping to keep Decatur Cemetery a pleasant place for all to visit.
The Decatur Cemetery currently has a limited number of lots available in the Cinerarium for purchase. Cinerarium lots are designed for one (1) cremation interment per lot in a 12” x 12” lot size. A bronze plaque for the stone memorial wall is included in the purchase price of a Cinerarium lot. Occasionally, full burial lots become available for purchase. Click here for current cemetery fees.
