City Schools of Decatur 

Decatur has its own independent school system consisting of four neighborhood elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school serving approximately 4,200 students. The schools are staffed by more than 200 teachers, over 70% of whom have advanced degrees. City Schools of Decatur is well-known for consistently strong test scores. 

Parent and community involvement is a hallmark of Decatur's schools, with many opportunities for volunteers to support students in academics, athletics, and other curricular and extracurricular activities. Parent support organizations operate in all schools, and all schools enjoy the support of dedicated Partners-In-Education from the Decatur business community. Academic, athletic, and band boosters are firmly established.

Decatur is home to Agnes Scott College, recently ranked as one of the top 50 national liberal arts colleges, the Southeast's best women's college, and Georgia's best liberal arts college by U.S. News & World Report in its annual "America's Best Colleges" survey. Columbia Theological Seminary, with its beautiful 52 acre campus along Columbia Drive anchors the southeastern quadrant of the City. DeVry University is also located in the heart of downtown on the Square.
