Commingled & Glass Recycling

City of Decatur Commingled and Glass Recycling Guidelines

As of July 2018, the City of Decatur is now the provider for single-family residential commingled and glass recycling collection.

What does this mean for you?

Your commingled and glass recycling will be collected on your regularly scheduled sanitation day, however, the collection times for your commingled recycling, glass recycling, yard waste, and trash may vary. All sanitation items must still be placed at the curb by 7:30 a.m. on your collection day. If your commingled or glass recycling has not been picked up by 3:30 p.m. on your collection day, please contact the Public Works Department. For information regarding what can and cannot be recycling, see the updated recycling guidelines.

Recycling Bins

Residents have access to a free green commingled recycling bin and red glass recycling bin for pick up or delivery by contacting the Public Works Department. For customers who prefer a larger container, 95-gallon blue carts may be purchased at Intown Ace Hardware.

Tips for Better Recycling in Decatur

The recycling guide was developed by Public Works and the Environmental Sustainability Board to reduce contamination in the City’s recycling stream and help residents locate appropriate drop-off points for their hard-to-recycle materials. This guide will be updated periodically as recycling guidelines change and/or new outlets and resources are identified. Please check back frequently and feel free to contact Sanitation Services with any questions or comments.
