The City of Decatur is committed to creating a connected, accessible, and safe community for all forms of active transportation. The Active Transportation Committee, a subcommittee of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, leads the charge in advancing Decatur’s bike-friendly and walk-friendly initiatives, ensuring everyone has access to sustainable and equitable mobility options.
What is Active Transportation?
Active transportation refers to human-powered modes of travel such as walking, biking, and rolling. These forms of transportation promote healthy lifestyles, reduce traffic congestion, and offer environmentally friendly alternatives to car travel—helping improve the overall quality of life in our community.
