Business License, Fire Inspections, Plan Review, Construction

City of Decatur expects:

new construction to request inspections for 50%, 80%, 100%, fire alarms, hood systems, and sprinklers. For a new business without renovations or construction, we expect a C/O, certificate of occupancy, fire inspection. City of Decatur Fire completes inspections of all existing occupancies in the city on a regular basis, such as: businesses, food trucks, churches, schools, apartments, and more.

Any Business that is Doing Construction or Renovation:

must request building inspections and a 50%, 80% and 100%/final fire inspection. Login into Community Core with the Login that was Given (if you do not have a login, email permits@decaturga.com and request one), click "Schedule Inspections" and choose: first a 50% inspection, after you pass the 50% then go back into the system and request an 80%, after you pass the 80%, you will request a 100% inspection. You may be charged for re-inspections.

If you are a New Business or Change of Business without Renovations:

you will have to do the same procedure of either creating a login for Community Core or using your login. Instead of needing a 50%, 80%, and 100% inspection you will need to request an "C/O inspection" for a certificate of occupancy inspection. You may be charged for re-inspections.

Once you have your 100% inspection or C/O inspection, ensure inspectors sign the Application for Occupancy Form. Email the form, and a copy of your approved 100% or C/O inspection, to the fire marshal ninetta.violante@decaturga.com.
