Fire Department Personnel

All City of Decatur Fire Rescue personnel are required to maintain 240 hours of training annually. Crew members hold various positions: firefighter, fire apparatus operator, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, assistant chief and fire marshal, deputy chief, and fire chief. Personnel may attain skills in aerial operations, inspections, investigations, extrication, hazardous materials, community risk reduction, public education, leadership, emergency medical technician, car seat, CPR instruction, Stop the Bleed instructor, smoke diver, rope technician, and more. 

They respond to more than fire calls. Firefighters are also trained to mitigate gas leaks, electrical hazardous, dangerous substances, fallen trees, car wrecks, high rise incidents, any type of medical call, invalid assists, elevator entrapment, and any other emergency incident.

Residents are welcome to come to the fire department and meet the firefighters/emergency medical technicians. They can come and see trucks, tools, and the station. We have a diverse and talented work force, come meet them.
