The City of Decatur will begin overnight installation of an intersection mural and decorative crosswalks during the week of June 1, 2026, weather permitting. Work will occur over multiple nights throughout the week between 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. to minimize daytime traffic disruptions.
Construction activities will take place at the intersection of Church Street and Sycamore Street; along East and West Ponce de Leon Avenue between Commerce Drive and Church Street; and on East Trinity Place near North McDonough Street. Work will be completed in phases, and only active work areas will be closed each night.
Full road closures will be required in active work zones during construction hours to allow crews to safely complete the installation. Detour signage will be posted throughout the project area, and local driveway access will be maintained to the extent possible.
