2025-2026 Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant (LMIG) Projects

The City of Decatur is beginning a series of street resurfacing projects funded through the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant (LMIG). These improvements help extend the life of our streets and enhance safety for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.

The projects will include comprehensive maintenance along 1.68 miles of corridor segments, focusing on infrastructure for all users—motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists. Work will consist of:

  • Sidewalk and apron repairs where concrete is cracked, dislodged, or missing

  • Upgraded ADA-compliant curb ramps at intersections

  • Crosswalk restriping for better visibility and accessibility

  • Replacement of faded thermoplastic striping and regulatory signage

  • Base patching and full resurfacing of asphalt travel lanes

  • Roadway milling to preserve curb height and improve stormwater drainage

These improvements are designed to provide a longer-lasting, safer, and more accessible transportation network.

This page will be updated in real time as each project begins and progresses. Residents can check back regularly for start dates, updated timelines, and detailed impacts on traffic and parking.
