Project Summary
The City of Decatur is soliciting sealed bids for the 2026 City of Decatur Church St and Clairemont Ave Quick Build Safety Project. This is a quick-build / tactical urbanism implementation project intended to deliver accelerated, cost-effective safety improvements using materials such as pavement markings, modular barriers, vertical delineators, planters, and raised crossing elements.
The project includes improvements on two corridors identified on Decatur’s High Injury Network:
Church Street (between Commerce Drive and Ponce de Leon Avenue): right-sizing the existing five-lane section, protected bike lanes, a raised mid-block crossing, and targeted sidewalk panel repairs.
Clairemont Avenue (between Commerce Drive and Ponce de Leon Avenue): lane narrowing and new pavement markings, parking adjustments, targeted sidewalk improvements, a raised crosswalk, and a pedestrian scramble phase at E. Ponce de Leon Avenue.
Work is intended to be delivered on an expedited schedule and must be completed before June 19th, the start of the World Cup.
