2024 Decatur Design Awards

The Decatur Historic Preservation Commission is more than just a review board. We connect residents and visitors to history through our built environment and advocate for quality design in all projects. We work to save our historic structures and assure that new construction is worthy of future preservation. To that end, every other year during National Preservation Month in May the Commission and the City honor projects or individuals promoting excellence in preservation, design, sustainability, and advocacy. Categories include:

  • New Residential Infill
  • New Commercial Construction
  • Historic Preservation
  • Public/Institutional Buildings
  • Commercial Historic Rehabilitation
  • Adaptive Reuse
  • Residential Historic Rehabilitation
  • Landscapes/Public Spaces
  • Sustainable Design and Energy Efficiency
  • Leila Ross Wilburn Award for individuals or organizations that promote preservation and excellence in design

Nominations will be accepted until Friday, April 12, 2024. Projects must have been completed within the last five years and must be located in the City of Decatur. Additional requirements are found on the nomination form. Questions? Contact Aileen de la Torre, City Planner.
