Citizens Assisting Public Safety

Decatur's Citizens Assisting Public Safety program is expanding to include fire department training. Classes are scheduled to begin in May. During the six-week program, participants will be trained in a wide variety of skills ranging from CPR, blood pressure screenings, and chainsaw safety. Participants will even get a chance to ride on emergency calls.

The classes are designed to train citizens on various tasks so they will be able to assist public safety officers when needed.

Fire Academy classes will take place at 6:30 p.m. every Thursday from May 3 through June 7.
