DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT

The City of Decatur and the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) staff provide day-to-day management of the downtown development program to attract, retain, and grow existing and new businesses in the City’s commercial districts. The DDA staff assists businesses in understanding the market and connecting with the respective commercial office leasing teams or owners.  Additionally, the staff works provide technical support to identify site locations, provide updated demographics, market information, and guidance through the permitting and approval process.  Staff encourages developers to meet prior to completing the design to get advice on how to meet development and design requirements.

RETAIL COMMITTEE

The Decatur Retail Council is led by the City’s Economic Development staff and is comprised of existing retailers in the City of Decatur. The council meets quarterly to discuss topics relevant to the success of retail businesses. The meeting is used for the City to better understand the needs of the retailers, and to share information about upcoming promotions and events.

RESTAURANT COMMITTEE 

The Decatur Restaurant Council, facilitated by the City’s Economic Development staff, is comprised of City of Decatur Restaurants. The council meets quarterly to discuss topics relevant to the success of restaurants. The meeting is used for the City to better understand the needs of the restaurants, and to share information about upcoming promotions and events.
