ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT AND GOALS
The City’s Economic Development staff attracts, retains and grows new and existing businesses and development. They partner with the Decatur Development Authority (DDA) and the Decatur Business Association (DBA) to achieve economic development goals. The DDA is guided by a board appointed by the Decatur City Commission to serve as advocates and advisors to the Commission on issues related to economic growth and development. The DBA is a coalition of member business and civic leaders that support Decatur’s already thriving business community and promote the city as a destination for new businesses and investment through programs, events, and projects.
DECATUR DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
The Decatur Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is an independent, quasi-government entity, enabled by state legislation and funded through a dedicated millage by properties within the Decatur city limits. It is guided by a seven-member board of directors appointed by the Decatur City Commission to serve as advocates and advisors to the Commission on issues related to economic growth and development. The City of Decatur and DDA share staff resources. The DDA staff provides day-to-day management of the downtown development program to attract, retain, and grow existing and new businesses in the City’s commercial districts. The DDA staff provides the following services:

DECATUR BUSINESS ASSOCIATION
The Decatur Business Association (DBA) is a membership organization made up of a coalition of business and civic leaders. Its mission is to sustain and encourage Decatur’s already thriving business community and to promote the City as a destination for new businesses and investments. To that end, the DBA produces monthly programs, events and projects to generate new and repeat business for Decatur businesses. The DBA is run primarily through volunteers with staff support from the City.
