Business Districts in Decatur, Georgia

The City of Decatur has five business and retail districts:

  • The Square
  • Old Depot District
  • West Ponce
  • Oakhurst Village
  • East Decatur Station

 


The Square

The Square is the historic heart of the downtown and is centered around the old DeKalb County courthouse. This 15-block tree-line, walkable district includes more than 1.5M square feet of commercial office space filled with highly successful professional firms, more than 40 unique retailers, and 45+ local and national restaurants offering a diversity of cuisine and price points. The Square draws people from all around the city.

 


West Ponce Retail District

The West Ponce retail district extends on West Ponce de Leon Avenue from Commerce Drive to Water Street and is anchored by neighborhood-serving retailers and restaurants. In recent years, the area has transformed with condos and apartments that have expanded the market beyond the adjoining single family neighborhoods.

 


Old Depot District

Anchored by the old train depot which is now home to one of the most well-regarded restaurants in the southeast United States, the Old Depot District is a collection of locally owned restaurants, retailers, service providers and small commercial offices that cater to the immediate neighborhood and nearby students at Ages Scott College.

 


Oakhurst Village

The Oakhurst Village is at the intersection of East Lake Drive and Oakview Road as well as the cluster of retails on West Howard. Easily accessible from the Square via South McDonough Street. This neighborhood district is at the heart of the Oakhurst neighborhood and includes a collection of unique restaurants and retailers anchored by the historic Scottish Rite Hospital building. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the renovated Historic Scottish Rite includes an art gallery, restaurant, and commercial office space.

 


East Decatur Station

East Decatur Station is part of the College Avenue Corridor, a collection of distinct neighborhood commercial nodes that extend along College Avenue east and west of Commerce/Columbia Drive. This area offers everything from small gourmet restaurants to neighborhood pizza, corner pubs and more traditional retail. The entire corridor is being transformed by new mixed-use residential with local retail and restaurant opportunities.
