Cheryl Bramblett Kortemeier has live in Decatur for nearly 30 years and has been actively involved in local civic and community efforts. She has led the Run With the Dogs 5K benefiting the Decatur Bulldog Boosters, supported Safe Routes to School initiatives, contributed to the City of Decatur’s 2020 Strategic Plan, served on the Five for Decatur task force, and helped plant more than 100 trees throughout the city.
In addition to serving as Commissioner, Cheryl is executive director of the Corporate Volunteer Council of Atlanta (CVC), where she supports more than 110 Metro Atlanta companies in their strategic commitment to community engagement and social impact. Prior to joining the CVC, Cheryl served as director of communications and development for Trees Atlanta and worked in corporate communications and event planning for Equifax, Inc. She currently serves as board chair for Science ATL, engineers of the Atlanta Science Festival; co-chair of the Partnership for Southern Equity’s Just Business Roundtable; and advisory board member for the Ray C. Anderson Center for Sustainable Business at Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business. Cheryl was a founding steering committee member of the United Nations-endorsed Greater Atlanta Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development (RCE). She is a graduate of the University of Georgia Terry College of Business and a 2018 graduate of the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Regional Leadership Institute.
Cheryl has been recognized as a 2025 Atlanta Magazine “Atlanta Women Making a Mark” awardee and a 2024 City of Decatur “Hometown Hero.” She lives in Oakhurst with her husband, Karl, their two sons, Milo and Ollie, and their dog, Trout. In her free time, she enjoys running, hiking, dancing, volunteering, and helping others activate in their local community.
