The Decatur community is invited to attend the unveiling of the John Lewis Memorial on Decatur Square. The statue, which is 12 feet tall and will sit atop a 6-foot-tall granite pedestal, will make history by replacing the Confederate obelisk that once stood at the front of the Historic DeKalb Courthouse.

Where: Decatur Square
Time: 11 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
- East Court Square and North McDonough Street will be closed starting at 3 a.m. Saturday, August 24.
- Ponce de Leon Avenue between Church Street and Clairemont Avenue will close starting at 3 a.m. Saturday, August 24.
- The streets are expected to re-open at approximately 5 p.m., or until they have been cleared.
