Alan McNabb

Alan McNabb is being honored for his significant contributions to Decatur. His work with the Decatur Land Trust and establishing the Oak Cottage Court community showcases his dedication to the area. As a retired real estate attorney and long-time board member, Alan played a crucial role in developing the ground lease agreement, ensuring the long-term affordability of these homes. Dr. Hogai Nassery

Dr. Hogai Nassery, an Afghan immigrant and family physician, founded the Afghan American Alliance of Georgia (AAAGA) to support Afghan families resettling in the U.S. after the 2021 withdrawal. Despite her busy career and family life, she dedicates herself to assisting over 300 families with housing, job searches, healthcare, education, and more. AAAGA provides comprehensive services to ensure Afghan immigrants' long-term success and independence. Frank Hamilton

Frank Hamilton has made a significant impact on Decatur's musical community. The folk legend who has performed with Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie founded the Frank Hamilton School of Music in 2015. Its curriculum brings together musicians of all skill levels, creating a vibrant community centered around music. Now located at Legacy Park, the school provides a welcoming and inclusive space for music lovers, with 165 to 180 students enrolled each term. At 90 years old, Frank continues to teach and inspire others, emphasizing the importance of lifelong learning and helping students overcome performance anxieties.
