On Saturday, April 26 from 10 A.M. - 2 P.M., Legacy Decatur, the nonprofit stewards of Legacy Park, will present Community Day, an afternoon of environmental education and social connection. Join us to learn, share knowledge, connect with green organizations and community builders, and find kindred spirits to help you on your journey to becoming a greener, more connected resident.

Varying in its focus from year to year, Community Day celebrates the community-serving work of Legacy Parks 18 nonprofit tenants and provides a forum by which the broader Decatur community can learn more about good things happening all around them.

This yearly, family-friendly gathering will be headlined by the Decatur Environmental Sustainability Board’s Earth Day Festival, and will feature a plant sale from Trellis Horticulture Therapy Alliance to get your garden up and running.

The Earth Day Festival promises a variety of participants focusing on ways to enhance your environmental footprint at home and throughout the community. In addition to sharing the work of the ESB, the event will introduce Hometown Habitats, a new City of Decatur program that recognizes Decatur residents for their commitment to sustainable practices in caring for their property. The first ever Hometown Habitat winner will be announced at the Festival, along with an opportunity for you to nominate the front yard of a deserving Decatur neighbor.

It takes a village to save a planet. Make plans now to join in this collective effort to cultivate a greener, more inclusive, and more connected Decatur community.
