City of Decatur Summer Camps

 Day Camps Dates, Location, Grades Served   General Description 


Three week-long sessions, July 2-20, 2018, at Decatur Recreation Center, 231 Sycamore Street, Decatur, GA 30030

Camp Sycamore serves rising K-3rd graders (must be 5 years old to attend)


Day Camps are open 8:00 a.m.-4 p.m. with after-care available until 6 p.m.

Day Camps offer a range of camp activities each day including arts and crafts, group games, outdoor activities, swimming, snacks, and weekly field trips (activities vary by camp and by theme).

Day Camps organize each session around a theme, but do not program exclusively around the theme.

Day Camp programs can be most beneficial when children attend for a succession of weeks - providing the opportunity to build stronger relationships with counselors and peers.



4 week-long sessions June 11-July 6, 2018, at Ebster Recreation Center, 105 Electric Ave, Decatur, GA 30030

iDiscover Camp serves rising K-5th graders (must be 5 years old to attend)


 Enrichment "E" Camps Dates, Locations, Grades Served  General Description

Dates: Week-long sessions June 4-29 & July 9-20, 2018

Locations: Glennwood Elementary School in June and Decatur Recreation Center, 231 Sycamore Street in July

Grades: Varies by camp. Ranges from rising K-6th. Campers must be 5 years old to attend.

E Camps focus on a content or skill area.  E Camps are typically more classroom based than Day Camps or Sports Camps.  Many of the camps are led by City Schools of Decatur teachers.

E Camps are open 8 am to 4 pm with after camp care available from 4-6 pm for an additional fee.

Sports Camps Dates, Locations and Ages Served General Description
Decatur Active Living

Dates: Varies May-July Locations: parks, fields and gym facilities across Decatur
Ages: Varies by camp - range 4 years to 17 years of age
Sports Camps are often facilitated by City Schools of Decatur coaches and are offered as half-day or part-day clinics designed to build participants' skills in a particular sport.
 Teen Leadership Programs Dates, Locations and Ages Served General Description 
  Leaders-in-Training (LIT) Leadership Program for 14-15 year olds.  June 4-July 6, 2018 at iDiscover Camp. Tuition $525 residents/$650 non-residents

Junior Counselor Program - Employment opportunity 16-17 year olds.  June 4-July 6 at iDiscover Camp or June 4-7 + June 29-July 20 at Camp Sycamore.
The LIT Program offers 14-15 year olds a chance to develop leadership skills as they work with campers in the iDiscover Camp program for four weeks.

The Junior Counselor Program is an employment opportunity for teens 16-17 years old who have already completed a previous leadership program and are ready to learn the ropes of working at summer camp.  May work five weeks at iDiscover Camp or four weeks at Camp Sycamore (orientation plus camp).

Tennis & Aquatics Camps Dates, Locations and Ages Served General Description 
Decatur Active Living

Coordinator: Jabari Cole
Dates: May-July throughout the summer
Locations: Glenlake Tennis Center and Glenlake Pool
Ages: Varies - ranges by camp - 7 years-17 years

Tennis, Swim, & Cookout Camps offer campers the chance to develop their tennis skills while also enjoying the opportunity to swim and interact with peers and instructors. Half and full-day options available.

Tournament Tennis Camps are designed with the competitive player in mind but can be adjusted to the level of any participant.  Full day program.

Swim clinics and lessons are also available during the summer season.
