NEW!! Facility Request FormWe are testing a new Facility Request Form and would like your feedback. To request a Facility for a particular date and time, you can now fill out the form and it will go directly to Decatur Active Living Staff members. Staff will get back to you at their earliest convenience to discuss the availability of the room(s) requested. Please note that requesting a space DOES NOT GUARANTEE that the room and facility are available for rental on the date requested. Reservations are confirmed only when a Rental Agreement is signed by both the renter and DAL staff. The link to the form is below:

October 2013: Decatur Active Living is thrilled to announce that LP3 Architecture, a collaboration between Praxix 3 & Amy Landesberg Architects, is the recipient of the AIA (American Institute of Architects) Honor Award. The Decatur Recreation Center received one of only two Honor Awards given- the highest achievement possible. The Decatur Recreation Center is LEED Silver. The Decatur Recreation Center was originally constructed in 1958 and houses a diverse group of recreational, civic and art programs for the City of Decatur. The renovated Decatur Recreation Center gives the community another option for great meeting, party and tournament space. Information and rental rates are in the Rental Rates Brochure, prices effective July 2014
Check out our modernized meeting rooms with free wi-fi and up-to-date audiovisual equipment. The gym provides bleacher seating for up to 200 and can be separated into two basketball or volleyball courts. The multi purpose studio includes a "sprung" floor and an innovative mirror wall for dance and movement classes.
Facility meets ADA guidelines for accessibility for people with disabilities. Equipment includes: elevators, ramps, ADA bathrooms with showers, hearing devices, and braille strip on upper track handrail.

Downstairs we also offer a Media Room, Children's Animal Crackers Room facing the playground and community garden out back. Beyond that are the Scott Park tennis courts.
Ebster Recreation Center was totally renovated and reopened in Spring 2015. The facility is adjacent to Ebster Pool and playground. The center is part of the Beacon Municipal Center and stands on the site of the former Trinity High School, an African-American school before Decatur High was integrated in the 1960's. The Beacon Municipal Center features free exhibits about Decatur's historic Beacon Community. The exhibits were developed with the input of many who grew up there in the middle of the 20th century.
