Grounds Maintenance
Seven employees maintain the grounds on City facilities, roadway shoulders, and City parks. They mow grass, plant street trees and provide limited landscaping services. They are also responsible for removing fallen trees from the city's rights-of-way, de-littering, and trimming trees or shrubbery that interfere with visibility of regulatory signs. A major activity of this division is maintenance of the grounds along the railroad track. Although it is not city property, the grounds along the railroad tracks are kept in a park-like state to improve the aesthetics of this major corridor. Our hard working crews can be found daily keeping Decatur beautiful!
