Sidewalk Improvement Projects – Notice to Bidders

The City of Decatur will receive sealed bids for sidewalk improvements for various streets until 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2007 in the City Commission room at Decatur City Hall, 509 North McDonough St., Decatur, Georgia, at which time and place all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.  This work includes, but is not limited to, removal and disposal of existing Portland cement concrete and concrete Hexstone paver sidewalk and driveway aprons; excavation, grading, disposal of excess excavated materials, forming, furnishing, placing, finishing and curing Portland cement concrete for sidewalks, sidewalks with integral curb, curb cut ramps, barrier curbs and driveway aprons, installation of chain link fencing, asphalt concrete patches and excavation, grading, stabilization and seeding of embankment fill and slopes and the disposal of excess excavated materials.

Prior to beginning construction the successful bidder will file with the City the required Bonds and Certificate of Insurance as outlined in the General Conditions with the terms and surety to be approved by the City.

The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive formalities in bidding.

Bids are to be submitted on a proper form furnished by the City and shall be addressed to the City Manager, City Hall, Decatur, Georgia, sealed, dated and enclosed in an envelope appropriately marked on the outside "Proposal for Sidewalk Improvement Program Phase 1 – 2007, marked with the name of the bidder and date and hour of opening, and mailed to reach the designated office on or before 10 a.m., on June 7, 2007, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud. A bid bond or certified check in an amount equal to not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of bid must accompany the bid.

Bids may be held by the City of Decatur for a period not-to-exceed thirty (30) days from the date of the opening of bids for the purpose of reviewing the bid and investigating the qualifications of bidder, prior to awarding of the contract.
