Fire Department Grants
Under the direction of Fire Chief Jerry Malone the Fire Department has been active in searching out grants and alternative funding since 2001. Below are all the Fire Department Grants received to date.

Oct. 21, 2007: $5,000
The Beer Festival Grant will fund the purchase of a mist cooling trailer and equipment.
Oct. 11, 2007: $369,463
GEMA Homeland Security Grant is a non-matching grant and is currently in process. The funds are to receive hazardous material vehicle equipment.
Oct. 8, 2007: $1,200
Barbeque and Blues Festival Grant will be used to purchase a display board and CERT equipment. This grant has partially been completed and is a non-matching grant.
Nov. 24, 2006: $71,300
As a matching grant of 5 percent, FEMA provided $67,735 and the city provided $3,565. The funds purchased vehicle exhaust systems for both fire stations.
Oct. 21, 2006: $2,200
A Beer Festival Grant was awarded to purchase a thermal imaging camera.
Oct. 21, 2005: $5,000
A Beer Festival Grant funded the purchase of a thermal imaging camera.
April 20, 2005: $95,280
The GEMA Homeland Security Grant funded 24 self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and 24 extra bottles.
March 29, 2004: $260,386
The GEMA Homeland Security Grant funded the purchase of a Prime Mover Air and Light Rescue Vehicle.
Aug. 1, 2004: $10,000
The Beer Festival Grant contributed to the purchase of a mini golf fire truck for fire prevention and event patient responses. An additional $4,000 was provided by the Decatur Business Association, Decatur First Bank, Decatur Arts Alliance and South Decatur Development Corporation.
Feb. 11, 2004: $46,645.53
The GEMA Homeland Security Grant provided full funding for the purchase of a decontamination trailer with equipment for decontamination and mass casualty incidents.
April 16, 2001: $48,800
A matching grant of 10 percent, FEMA provided $43,920 and the city provided $4,880. The funds purchased 16 Fire Hawk self contained breathing apparatus and eye protection for helmets.
