Notice of Qualified Inspectors

A person holding a permit requiring an inspection of a building, dwelling and/or a mechanical gas or plumbing system must retain the services of a "qualified inspector." (Official Code of Georgia Annotated, section 8-2-26.1)

A qualified inspector is one who has acquired SBCCI certification in the area(s) to be inspected.

The City of Decatur employs two inspectors with the following qualifications, as defined by the Georgia code:

Rick Logan is a qualified inspector for:

• Standard Building Code (SBCCI certified)
• Standard Plumbing Code (SBCCI certified)
• Standard Mechanical Code (SBCCI certified)
• Standard Gas Code (SBCCI certified)
• CABO one and two family dwelling code (SBCCI certified)

Along with these certifications, Logan draws from his many years of experience in the construction industry.

Paul Wells is certified as:

• IMC mechanical inspector
• IPC plumbing inspector
