The Planning Commission used its August meeting as a time to discuss the issue of Infill Design Guidelines in Decatur. In response to citizen requests, the city hired a graduate intern to work with the Development Department for ten weeks this summer to address the questions, "What types of infill housing are found in Decatur?" and "What can the city do to regulate infill housing?"

The recommendations in the reports below suggest changes to the city's zoning ordinance as a way to regulate infill housing. The city is still in the early stages of identifying and addressing the issues associated with infill housing. The next step is to meet with residents and other stakeholders to continue the discussion that began in August with the Planning Commission. If you have any comments on these recommendations please email Amanda Thompson at athompson@decaturga.com.
