About the Greespace Commission
The Decatur Greenspace Commission was established by the City Commission in 2002. The Commission grew out of a recommendation from the Greenspace Task Force that met from 2001-2002 and presented its final report to the City Commission in March 2002. This report laid out a guiding vision for greenspace in the community and a set of recommendations on how to realize that goal. Among the recommendations was the creation of a permanent Greenspace Commission.
The Greenspace Commission is an advisory and advocacy group for greenspace protection and enhancement in the city. It is responsible for developing and implementing a greenspace preservation strategy for the city and advising the City Commission on greenspace-related issues. It meets on the third Friday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in the City Commission room. Current members are Dan Reuter, John Keyes, Bruce Fabrick (chair), Catherine Fox, Lisa Crawford (vice-chair), and Tony Leung. The Greenspace Commission is staffed by Amanda Thompson, Planning Director. Call 404-370-4102 or send an email.
