Annexation Study Updates City Manager, Peggy Merriss, presented an annexation report to the City Commission on Jan. 22, 2008. The report considers the annexation of property north and east of the existing city limits.

Infill Housing Task Force The City Commission has appointed an eighteen member task force to address the issue of infill housing in single-family neighborhoods in Decatur.
 Decatur's Historic City Hall Located just off the square at 509 N. McDonough St., City Hall is the focal point of City government. The City Commission and volunteer resident boards and commissions meet here. The City Manager's office and several other city services are housed at City Hall.

New Graffiti Ordinance The City Commission adopted an ordinance to provide for the enforcement, removal and prevention of graffiti.

 What Do You Get For Your City Tax Dollar? Out of every dollar you pay in taxes, 60 cents goes to the school system. Of the remaining 40 cents, 26 cents goes to the General Fund, six cents goes to Solid Waste, three cents goes to Capital Improvements, two cents goes to the Stormwater Fund, two cents goes to the Bond Fund, and one cent goes to the Development Authority.
The 26 cents in the General Fund is divided into six categories – police, fire, general government, public works, recreation and community/ economic development.
